Getting Started
You must be 18+, live in North America or Canada, and meet all eligibility requirements listed in Section 2 of the official rules.
You will need the following:
- Internet connection
- NBA ID (register at nba2kleague.com)
- PS5: NBA 2K26 + PS Plus
- Xbox: NBA 2K26 + Game Pass
Pick your team when you sign up. You’ll represent them by playing NBA 2K26 in The City and completing social media challenges. Your ranking among other fans of that team will appear on your profile and leaderboard. Top players may be invited to compete in Next Fan Up Official Tournaments and finals events for their team.
Top leaderboard performers have the chance to:
- Compete alongside or against NBA players in finals events
- Join exclusive digital meet and greets offered as part of the rewards experience
Yes. Signing up for Next Fan Up earns you +50 points.
When playing NBA 2K26 in The City during an official competition window:
- Earn +30 points per game played
- Earn +30 additional points per win
Playing and Earning Points
Next Fan Up is divided into 4 Stages. Each Stage lasts 4-5 weeks.
You can earn points by participating, playing, or posting:
- Sign up (+50 points)
- Play NBA 2K26 during gameplay windows (+30 per game, +30 per win)
- Complete social media challenges anytime during the Stage (+250 each, up to 3 per Stage)
Gameplay windows are open from Monday 10:00 AM ET to Wednesday 11:59 PM EST during each Stage.
You earn points by playing games in The City, which you access through MyCAREER mode. Once you're in MyCAREER, enter The City and play during official windows to start earning points.
Post on Instagram or X (Twitter) using @NBA2KLeague. Each challenge can only be completed once per user.
There are three social media challenges that can be entered anytime during the associated Stage.
- Signature Build: Show off a video or image of your favorite go-to build when you want to relax and have fun!
- Hot Mic: Post a video of your funniest moment in the NBA 2K26 voice chat.
- Rage Quit: Capture a video of your funniest reaction after a tough loss.
Requirements
- Must be posted on Instagram or X (formerly Twitter).
- The media posted must be a video or image, as noted.
- The meme must have been created by you.
- The social media account used must be added on your user profile at www.nba2kleague.com prior to the time of the post.
- Any video including racist, sexist, or other slurs will not be considered. Any video containing identifiable information for any party will not be considered.
- The post must tag the official NBA 2K League account on the respective platform: “@nba2kleague”.
- Earn +300 points
Yes. Points reset at the end of each Stage.
The leaderboard is scheduled to update every week. If there are any delays, we will let you know. Check nba2kleague.com/play before the next gameplay window.
Rewards and Recognition
NBA tickets, gift cards, in-game gear, official NBA merchandise, NBA League Pass access, and more.
Top players on the leaderboard may receive exclusive invites via email. This can lead to:
- Competing in Next Fan Up Official Tournaments
- Getting the call-up to join the 2KL content universe
These events feature matchups with NBA players, creators, and top community talent. If selected, you’ll be representing your favorite NBA team in high-stakes games that showcase your skills on a bigger stage.
